An early trend shows that iPad users are not too keen on paid newspaper apps.

Paidcontent.org, a site which covers the economics of digital content, has said after the first day of iPad’s launch that users showed a lack of interest in paid newspaper apps. Although the major media companies are ranked highly for free apps, their paid apps have not generated enough interest, and its not difficult to understand why. The free content these media companies publish on the open web is good enough for most readers not to pay for it.

While these are still early days to arrive at a conclusion, it will be interesting to wait and watch for more iPad apps to come out and see if the trend holds.
