German researchers at the Hasso Plattner Institut have designed a multitouch interface that translates pressure from a user’s feet into computer inputs. The system is sensitive enough to detect postures and inputs from different areas of the foot for a variety of input commands, and can recognize different users by the distinct mechanics of individual footprints and shoe patterns.
