Mini took advantage of the April 1st US reveal date for the new 2011 Countryman by pulling the sheet off a fake shell of a dramatically larger vehicle( something in profile that looked like a Hummer) Eventually the shell was broken apart and the Countryman emerged.

Mini’s largest vehicle offered to date, the MINI Countryman bridges the gap between the classic MINI concept and a modern crossover vehicle. The Countryman shows an evolution of Mini styling away from the classic oval headlights. The interior features a unique center rail that spans the interior cabin and offers storage for personal items, electrical and USB connections for seamless integration of smartphones and other devices. Mini is currently sponsoring a contest to design new products for the center rail.
