Seiko's new Active Matrix E-Ink watch promises a rich display of images and data.

Seiko unveiled its new range of E-Ink watches with an Active Matrix system at Basel World 2010. While the previous generation electronic ink watches had a high contrast display and some other excellent features, Seiko promises that its new watch will allow for an even richer range of imagery and data display. The watch boasts 80,000 pixels, each of which are capable of displaying four shades of grey. The Active Matrix EPD technology and 300 dpi resolution means that the watch enables text and graphics to appear finer than in a conventional LCD watch and delivers sharp and clear images, while consuming less power.
