London based startup Sponsume offers an online platform that helps individuals and organizations promote and fund their ideas by matching their projects with people who would like the projects to be implemented. The site allows anyone to try and raise funds for their ideas in return for rewards and discounts for that project’s finished product. If the project achieves full funding by its deadline, the people who funded the project by purchasing projects vouchers can redeem them. Say, a software company needs $5000 to complete an image editing software with features ideal for your needs. You can buy project vouchers for this software which will give you a 20% discount on the software’s retail price and free upgrades for life, privileges that the general public won’t get. If the total funding isn’t raised by the deadline, people who purchased the vouchers get their money back.

Interestingly, several similar services already exist in the US including Kickstarter and IndieGoGo.

As of now, the site is free to use for project owners but may eventually start charging some commission. Most of the projects getting attracted towards Sponsume are new businesses, charity events, concerts, new albums and sporting events. Currently, it accepts only UK based projects.
