A new type of panoramic camera can illuminate the highlights and shadows generated by the wireless signals around us.

Bengt Sjölén, Adam Somlai Fischer, Usman Haque have been working together to build The WiFi Camera, a device that visualizes electromagnetic activity within the range projected by wireless devices. Images captured by the panoramic camera illuminate the highlights and shadows generated by the wireless signals around us, in the same way typical cameras capture visible light reflected by physical objects.

The project developers explain below:

With the camera we can take real time “photos” of wifi (and we're working towards having video too). These show how our physical structures are illuminated by this particular electromagnetic phenomenon and we are even able to see the shadows that our bodies cast within such “hertzian” spaces.
