The iconic magazine is dead, but will return in a digital form.

Gourmet magazine, which stopped its unprofitable print publication last year, is making a comeback as an app called Gourmet Live. Conde Nast, which owns the Gourmet brand, said it was encouraged by Wired magazine's iPad edition which sold more than 90,000 copies at the regular print newsstand price, which suggests that customers are willing to buy quality digital content.

Gourmet Live will contain articles, menus, photos and videos about food, travel and culture and will be free to download while Conde Nast will experiment with different business models initially. It will also have a strong social networking presence and will be linked to Facebook and Twitter to spread the Gourmet name on the Web. The app will be launched later this year.
