In Brief
The no-frills motel chain gets a surprising makeover.
London-based design firm Priestmangoode recently started redesigning Motel 6, the chain of low cost, no-frills hotels. Under the “Phoenix” redesign program, Priestmangoode designed the rooms in Scandinavian-style featuring wood-effect flooring, ambient lighting, a pedestal bed and a flat-screen TV. The bathroom features a black granite counter top, a walk-in shower and a large vanity area.
Motel 6’s “Phoenix” design was named winner of the 2010 Travel + Leisure Design Award for Best Large Hotel.
