Radiohead‘s frontman Thom Yorke has predicted the end of the music industry, and not sometime down the line, but very soon. In an interview for a new high school textbook, Yorke warns young, upcoming artists to resist signing traditional record deals with major labels because these companies will fold up within months, as the mainstream recording industry is on the verge of a major crisis.

Crunchgear quotes him saying:

It will be only a matter of time—months rather than years—before the music business establishment completely folds. [It will be] no great loss to the world.

Incidentally, Radiohead split away from their longtime label, EMI, few years ago and launched their online album, In Rainbows, where they allowed fans to choose the price.
