A week before the start of the Sonar music festival, its younger brother, SonarKids occupied the same spaces in the center of Barcelona. The second festival has been expanded to a two-day format receiving over 7000 attendees, most of them children.

SonarKids continues to be a new concept in family leisure, so that parents and children enjoy music, workshops, art and technology together, an ideal space to learn while playing and having a good time.

Amongst its activities we find the Catalan designer Josep Abril teaching kids how to shape, sew and redesign an item of clothing (a shirt, a T-shirt, a polo shirt) using another existing one, so that each participant has their own garment designed to suit their own taste. Jordi Labanda had an entire wall of the MACBA to draw his highly recognisable, popular and contemporary characters, for children to paint and colour his illustrations as they please. Also The festival presented “0 > 100”, an interactive and simultaneous musical experience between musicians and children in four Catalan towns -Barcelona, Granollers, Lleida and Olot- connected using optical fibre technology.
