Target Launches New Social Media Push
The original game-changer who brought high/low designer collaborations to the front lines of fashion, have created a new sweater app entitled Merona My Look Maker.
Currently in retail there is no bigger buzz phrase more ubiquitous than “social media”, with everyone from Burberry to J.Crew trying to be the first to roll out the newest innovation. Not to be left in the dust, Target- the original game-changer who brought high/low designer collaborations to the front lines of fashion, have created a new sweater app entitled Merona My Look Maker.
The app allows potential shoppers to virtually try on, and try out Merona fashions- Target’s best selling sweater line. To keep things interesting, the merchandise on the app is kept in season with Merona merchandise in Target stores. Then to show off your skills you can upload your created looks to Facebook, and other social media sites. In addition, computer users can also connect to the Target Web site with a “shop it now” feature, letting them buy the merchandise instantly. While it’s still up for debate whether this function will get consumers excited about Target brand sweaters, if they use this app for their next collaboration you can be sure die hard brand fans will be qeueing up to see how to make these pieces their own.
