The Brick Theater of Brooklyn is running a festival of gaming-inspired performance art.

The New York Times reports on the Game Play festival, which reinterprets characters and storylines of classic video games into new tales and enacts them as live theater to the audience. The unique show, now running through July 25th at the Brick Theater in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, blends a theater’s live performance with the technology of video games.

From New York Times:

The Game Play festival has something for both adult gamers and children. At one extreme: on Saturday evening the new-media artist Jon Rafman led a somewhat boozy crowd through a guided tour of some of the exotic sexual subcultures in Second Life, the popular virtual-reality system.
