Designer Julian Bond’s Pixel Casting Machine is a slip casting mold that can create an unlimited variety of pixelated ceramic vessels. Unlike traditional slip-cast molds that are fixed and can create only one design, the Pixel Casting Machine can be reconfigured by hand to create virtually infinite number of designs. Its blocks are made of plaster which absorbs water from the ceramic, after which the remaining liquid is poured out to leave a hollow vessel.
