(Video) Robot Fetches Beer From The Fridge
Multi-skilled robot uses object recognition to carry out a new task.
The Willow Garage roboticists have done it again; after teaching their PR2 bot to play pool and fold laundry, they have now trained it to fetch beer from the fridge. The team made some add-on changes to the robot including a four-holed foam block for stowing beers and storing a convenient beer opener. They also developed a ‘Beer Me’ web application where users can choose their choice of beverage from a menu. The robot navigates to the fridge and uses object recognition to retrieve the correct beers ordered and brings them to its human masters.
