ecoATM is an automatic e-cycling station where you can trade-in your used cell phone for real time incentives. Simply plug in your old phone into an ecoATM kiosk for it to assess the device’s resale value, collect it and turn out a gift card or store credit for that value. And what do they do with these old phones? While over 60 percent of the phones collected are sold for refurbishing and reselling, those with no potential value are sent to a metals reclamation facility. Currently, there are 8 ecoATMs in the US that have dispensed over half a million dollars for used cell phones, enabling both the consumer and the manufacturer of the phone to participate in environmental friendly recycling.
