An incredible experiment in travel minimalism.

Veteran travel columnist Rolf Potts has embarked on an incredible worldwide trip without using any luggage. The No Baggage Challenge that started last month will see him explore a dozen countries in all 5 continents with a minimum of toiletries, electronics and clothing.

Potts says that his trip is an experiment to understand how much we really need when undertaking a trip of this magnitude.

What items, if any, are essential to the enjoyment of a journey to other countries?  How does traveling light make a trip cheaper, simpler or easier (or more difficult)?  What lessons from this no-baggage adventure might apply to day-to-day life — both on the road and at home?
