A new study shows how a discount sale lights up the human brain.

In a recent study, researchers have discovered that shopping in a sale is as exciting as sex. When researchers connected eye-tracking devices to people and first showed them pornographic pictures followed by clippings from sales promotions, they found that their participants’ brains responded with the same level of excitement.

The research was commissioned by the Institute for Promotional Marketing and would be used to help retailers in their marketing campaigns.
