Visa’s New Program Transforms Smartphones Into E-Wallets

NY and NJ transit riders can now pay their travel fare with their phones.

Visa has introduced a new pilot program called Visa payWave that will enable smartphone users to pay their bus and train fares by just holding their phones at special readers at the fare gates. The program has been launched in the transit systems of New York and New Jersey.
