A smartphone program aims to cut back traffic, save users money and improve the experience of riding in taxis .

Weeels is a new mobile app that promises to offer smartphone users a quick and affordable means to order and share cabs. The app is the brainchild of founder David Mahfouda who says he wants to transform people’s experience of metropolitan transportation and make them more environmentally-friendly at the same time. Weeels users in New York City can order cabs and also pair themselves with others who are taking similar trips so they can share rides, thereby reducing the number of cars on the road and creating a more efficient mode of transit.
