The beverage brand is testing Facebook's new social sharing functionality for a new campaign.

In a unique ad campaign, Mountain Dew’s new banner ads around the web will now be seen with the very familiar ‘Like’ button, which web surfers will be able to click to send it as news feed on their Facebook profile. Once on the ad,  users will also be able to see which of their friends already “like” Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew is probably the first brand to test Facebook’s new social sharing functionality on its ads displayed on other sites. Interestingly, Facebook was not involved in the ad campaign and also didn’t charge the beverage company (presumably as it is still testing the technology), but only extended its applications to insert the “like” icon within Mountain Dew’s ads.
