Barnes and Noble introduces the Nook Color, the highly-anticipated follow-up to the Nook e-reader.

Book retail giant Barnes and Noble has finally unveiled its successor to the Nook eReader: the Nook color, a color e-reader with a 7-inch touchscreen display.

Weighing just under a pound and built from Google’s Android operating system , the Nook color comes with 8GB built-in memory expandable to 32GB via a microSD card, a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, a micro-USB port, and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Battery life is projected at eight hours.

Nook color also introduces a collection of popular children’s books called Nook Kids.
