Unsocial: Social Networking For Strangers
A new service helps make fresh connections between related professionals.
There’s a new social service that links you up with people in virtually the same manner as Facebook, Forsquare, and LinkedIn: only that instead of your real circle of friends, colleagues and family, it links you to people you do not know.
Created by Kiran Modak, Justin Richardson and Santosh Khare, Unsocial is specifically designed for you to connect with fellow professionals in similar or related fields whom you would probably want to know and forge connections with.
This is how it works: A user signs up via his or her LinkedIn account and Unsocial uses that profile to collect basic information on the person’s career. The user inputs “smart tags,” or rather keywords, that describe his/her professional background (for example I might include “journalist,” “writer,” “technology”) and the traits of people s/he is seeking.
