Prolific designer Tokujin Yoshioka has crafted a phone with an exposed interior.

Prolific designer Tokujin Yoshioka has crafted an aesthetically interesting phone for iida in Japan with an exposed-interior design, slated for a mid-November launch. The clamshell-design is hidden by the phone's exposed circuitry, while a low-power LED panel displays notifications. As shown in the image above the phone rests on a molded transparent stand, giving the illusion of the phone sinking into the air.

Yoshioka explains his approach below:

“I have pondered a design without a shape…. I came to reach an idea of ‘designing from inside.’”
