Public Bikes is a year old bike company created by Rob Forbes, the founder of Design Within Reach. After a career of making modern design accessible to more people, Rob is trying to do the same for urban transportation with his European inspired bicycles.

Without a storefront of their own, Public has partnered with Gap's flagship store on Market Street in San Francisco, to open a pop-up shop in the heart of its hometown. Now you can see how a mandarin orange Public D will look with a new pair of chino's before riding off along the Embarcadero. After test riding and debating color choices, there's also an array of iPads that allow customers to order a bike and have it shipped to their door.
