Traditional Indian Furniture Gets A Modern Facelift

The Charpai cot gets remade with recycled denim.

Designer Siddharth Hirwani gave a modern touch to the traditional Indian string cot by using recycled denim to weave its central bed portion instead of the commonly-used nylon. Hirwani stitched together small denim strips to make a roll, which is then used to form the bed’s flat surface. Simply place a small bedding and a makeshift couch or bed is ready.
