Nissan is less than 24 hours away from delivering its first long awaited 100% electric Leaf to customer number one.

December 11th 2010 is a day Olivier Chalouhi has probably been counting down to for a while. The 31 year-old San Francisco Bay area entrepreneur who founded Fanhattan will be the first consumer to take delivery of a new Nissan Leaf in the world. He'll pick up the car at North Bay Nissan of Petaluma.

For their part, Nissan is going mark the occasion with a press conference following Chalouhi receiving the vehicle at San Francisco City Hall Plaza. The event kicks off a week of Leaf deliveries to customers in the primary launch markets of Southern California, Arizona, Oregon, Seattle and Tennessee. Nissan has also committed to donating $25,000 to the World Wildlife Fund to mark the occasion.
