A mobile app now controls in-car communications, navigation, and entertainment.

MINI Connected is a new iPhone app that aims to create a seamless bridge between the digital communication and social networking functions of the phone and an easy to use interface in the car. Once the phone is plugged into the built-in USB port, the app appears on a centrally located screen on the dashboard. Navigating the app is done with a multi-function joystick.

Users can create customized RSS news feeds and have Facebook and Twitter status updates appear on the display. Travel information like whether you'll be on time or late to a destination can be posted with preset tweets. The app also provides access to Google Maps and Google Local Search for navigation and help in finding a particular place of interest. Instead of emailing directions, friends can send them directly to the car via Google Send-to-Car for on the go access.
