An industrial designer upcycles old wooden shipping pallets, creating unique chairs with a handmade feel.

Shelton Davis, designer and founder of Design Cannon, rescues planks of wood from shipping pallets headed for the landfill and transforms them into rough-hewn Adirondack Chairs, giving the planks a second chance at a useful life. Of the asymmetrical handmade chair, Green Upgrader reports:

When the Atlanta-based designer noticed a rash of overturned shopping carts in his neighborhood, he quickly sorted out what was going on. Folks were using these upside-down carts as bus stop seating, since so many intown bus stops don’t have benches.
