Warren Ellis responds to Russell Davies' criticism of modern science fiction.

A few weeks back we wrote about an observation by Russell Davies where he suggested that society seems disinterested in the future and this is reflected in aspects of culture including fashion and science fiction. Writing for Wired UK's site, comic-book writer Warren Ellis responds to his concerns over sci-fi:

Science fiction has other work to do, the work of showing us where we're really living and who we really are. Probably the best sci-fi short story ever written is Samuel R Delany's Aye, and Gomorrah Its speculation comes not from the probable futures inherent in science, but from a dark minded viewof human practicality and predation as we move into the future.
