Have you ever considered how countries around the world are quantified by social networks? Vincenzo Cosenza’s latest data visualization does just that, and shows Facebook’s increasing global dominance in the process with its reach of almost 600 million users worldwide. Extracting traffic data from this month’s Alexa & Google Trends for Websites, Cosenza’s analysis concluded Facebook is the favorite social network in 115 countries out of the total 132 analyzed, revealing steady gains in parts of Europe. Other social networks trailing Facebook include Twitter which in some countries comes in second (UK, Australia, Canada) and in others ranks third (Germany and Italy). And LinkedIn is gaining a noticeable presence in Australia, Canada, and UK.
