FedEx has just announced its latest commitment to sustainable practices: Each new building it constructs will meet LEED Certification standards, as determined by the U.S. Green Building Council. Its first two environmentally friendly buildings will include its newest facility in Las Vegas (still under construction) and its current world headquarters in Memphis, which will meet the LEED standard for existing buildings.

The move is significant. The Las Vegas facility is estimated to reduce energy consumption by 42%. FedEx hopes to inspire other companies to make similar commitments.
