Vimeo Launches High-Quality Tutorial School

The company's new Video School is an example of how online learning programs are beginning to resemble genuine educational curriculums.

Video streaming service Vimeo has recently taken the opportunity to organize video tutorials appearing on the site into what they’ve called the Vimeo Video School. The project draws upon user and staff-generated lessons in categories ranging from lighting and sound to editing and software, selected by a Vimeo team dedicated to ensuring a genuinely educational program of content. Accompanying these videos are Lesson Challenges, where participants create video content based on the techniques they’ve just learned.  Recent commentary discussing virtual learning has pointed to online platforms that are doing legitimate work towards making quality education available to more people, including community-powered platforms like University of the People and the Khan Academy; we’ll certainly see more niche services continue to develop university-like curriculums in ways that allow passionate members to share knowledge with others.
