Facebook Introduces Same-Sex Relationship Status

Facebook includes in its latest update to the website's romantic options, "in a civil union" and "in a domestic partnership."

On Thursday, Facebook introduced its latest update to the social network’s relationship options, which now include “in a civil union” and “in a domestic partnership.” The social-networking site rolled out the new features in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France and Australia after consulting with users and equal rights organizations. With more than 600 million active Facebook users globally, human rights advocates have lauded the addition as a huge step forward for the greater equality and understanding of same sex unions.
