Wholefoods have joined forces with the Global Animal Partnership to offer their customers a more transparent, ethical choice when it comes to animal-based products. Around 1,200 farms and ranches which provide Whole Foods range of beef, pork and chicken products will now be rated under the five-point system which ranges from ‘Step 1 (no crates, cages or crowding) to Step 5+ (animals spend their entire lives on one farm)'.

A select range of certified meat products throughout the store currently display the rating system with colour-coded stickers and by May 9 all fresh and pre-packaged beef, pork and chicken will carry a rating.
