A soft clock helps keep people free from the distraction of clock-watching.

In a seemingly counter-intuitive design, the Vague Clock displays the time only when someone goes through the effort of pressing down it's soft face. The clock is designed to combat the instinct to be distracted by clock-watching, allowing observers to focus on getting important work done instead. The designer Sejoon Kim explains below:

Too much information can put pressure on people. Vague Clock obscures one’s reading of the minute and hour hands to relieve the feeling of having to chase time.
