An Update On

A quick summary of the issues we had and mention of the forthcoming site redesign.

As you may have noticed, the last few days has been a little difficult for the editorial team as the site struggled to stay live. Last Thursday, we seem to have had a DDOS attack which shut down the site and when the folks at MediaTemple blocked the holes the server that houses the site didn’t really want to get back in the ring. It might have got nervous also about publishing to 1 million unique visitors a month across the globe and running queries against a database that has grown to 23,000 articles. Over the weekend, we made a rush to upgrade to a faster server and in the speed we were unable to test effectively and the site fell over again and again. This meant that links in our newsletters, RSS, Twitter and Facebook feeds seemed to be broken.
