A German artist creates a new kind of cultural object with an East meets West hybrid.

Tobias Megerle, a German-born artist who relocated to Mumbai, discovered an open-air woodcarving workshop in the Mahim neighbourhood, and was inspired to hire the furniture-makers to construct a fleet of skateboards in the traditional Indian carving style. The results of this unique collaboration between East and West will be on display at Mumbai’s The Loft at Lower Parel Contemporary Art Space.
