Minimalist Couch Based On “That” Picture of Marilyn Monroe
The iconic image of Marilyn Monroe has provided inspiration for so many artists, why not designers as well?
When you think about furniture style is Marilyn Monroe the first thing that jumps to mind? Well she was for young Spanish architect Borja Abellan and his designer colleague Nacho Soler of Tada Studios. The pair have designed this minimalist chaise-lounge based on the pleats in Marilyn’s iconic dress as she stood over a vent in the film, “The Seven Year Itch.” The lounge bed is completely flat with straight lines when closed but develops a sculptural quality of gentle curves when folded out. With spring on the way this could be just the thing for relaxing on the backyard deck in style. The chaise feature three different levels at which to recline and one completely flat position for snoozing, and perhaps dreaming of the lovely lady herself.
