New baggage security systems boast cutting edge imaging technology.

Replacing multiple 2D imaging, threat detection technology company Reveal Imaging has been rolling out new baggage scanners aimed at finding explosives. Naturally, the new technology aims to scan more bags using Rapiscan (240 bags an hour), more portable, more fully automated, and able to minimize false-alarms. For obvious reasons, the Transportation Security Administration are supporting the trend towards improving this technology.

On the more technical side, the new scanners are using Array Motion Imaging, which Gadling explains, “presents a moving image of baggage to the machine operator, as though someone were turning it around from side to side or up and down, enabling them to see all areas of the bag.” For a detailed look at the scanners' specs, check out this product page.
