A Tumblr blog showcases one artist's photographs of the diverse range of fonts used throughout the city.

Luke Connelly, a young designer, website developer and photographer living in New York has a side project on Tumblr called NYC Type, which involves taking pictures of the various typography he spots while out and about in the city and keeping a collection of his numerous finds on a blog.

He explains the idea behind his project:

The inspiration for NYC Type came from my recent move to Manhattan. As I wandered around in my first days here, I noticed that the typography on the signs around midtown ranged from atrocious to amazing. I wanted to figure out a way to collect the gems for my own inspiration and share what I find with others and engage the design community here.
