‘Urban Acupuncture’ Projects: Rebuilding Japan
Days after the harrowing earthquake-tsunami ordeal, worldwide efforts are now being initiated to bring Japan back on its feet.
In line with rescue and reconstruction efforts following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Architecture for Humanity has announced plans to extend aid in rebuilding efforts. Executive Director Cameron Sinclair has underscored the importance of helping at the grassroots level, saying:
The greatest impact we can make is to focus on specific small scale building projects for local community organizations. These ‘urban acupuncture’ projects create a ripple effect of social cohesion and change. As we raise more funds we will green light additional centers. It is our aim to raise $200,000 to build the first of these projects.
