Esopus: An Ad-Free Experiment In Independent Publishing
An bi-annual publication and non-profit remains true to the vision of its lone creator by remaining free from the constraints of advertising.
Tod Lippy started Esopus magazine in 2003 as a personal project and so it remains. The bi-annual art publication is an advertising free and non-profit funded venture with the simple mission to provide unfiltered non-commercial space in which creative people and the public can connect in meaningful, productive ways. Tod acts as both editor and designer, and he is almost entirely self-taught.
An unmitigated experiment in independent publishing, the magazine features artists’ projects, critical writing, fiction, poetry, visual essays, interviews, and even an audio CD. All of which serves as a unmediated perspective on contemporary culture issued at the behest of the magazine’s lone creator.
