TOMS ‘One Day Without Shoes’

TOMS Shoes raises awareness and encourages change via a social-media driven campaign encouraging us to walk without shoes today.

Today, April 5th, socially-beneficial brand TOMS Shoes is honoring ‘One Day Without Shoes’ as ‘the day we raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life by taking off our own.’ The accompanying social media-driven campaign aims to raise awareness, motivate action and enable change to benefit the millions of children in developing nations that must walk barefoot (out of poverty) to attend school, pick up clean water, or receive medical help.

The brand has invited individuals and organizations to raise awareness – and ultimately to take action and contribute – by taking off their shoes today. The campaign’s site invites participants to spread the word via social media, provides a toolkit of posters, banners, stickers and the like to spread the word offline, invites participants across the globe to share their photos on the wall (for a more connected, shared experience) and tracks collective participation from competing companies and organizations.

It may be raining outside the office in NYC today, but we’ll honor TOMS’ challenge by spreading the word of this worthy idea – and taking action to help one less child need to walk barefoot today. We’d also love to see what results – and contributions – this
