BMW announced yesterday that it will start selling car parts and accessories directly to the owners, from an eBay store. Tapping into one of the most popular categories on the auction site, which has 96 million users worldwide, the BMW Direct store on eBay UK hopes to satisfy the growing demand for purchasing genuine parts online.

Previously, BMW owners wanting brake discs and car care products had to order them from an official dealership but now, becoming the first carmaker to open an eBay store, it offers a convenient alternative. Carl Sanderson, General Manager of Aftersales Development, said:
