Vodafone Adds Phone Chargers And Text-Payment To London Taxis

Vodafone's campaign will see over 500 branded mobile-friendly taxis across the capital.

500 Vodafone-branded taxis, emblazoned with the Union Jack design, are to be fitted with mobile phone chargers as part of the company’s advertising campaign promoting improvements to its coverage in London. As part of “London’s calling” mobile phone users on any network won’t have to worry about their battery running low, as the black cabs feature chargers for a range of handsets.

Vodafone customers will also be able to pay their taxi fare using their mobile phones, by sending a text message with the taxi’s regristration number and the cost of the journey, which will then be added to their phone bill or deducted from their credit if they are on a pay-as-you-go tariff. The Chief Executive of Vodafone UK, Guy Laurence, said of the campaign:
