The Financial Times magazine commissioned photographer Giles Revell to create a series of images based on data from the 2011 Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona. They were used for the article “A Football Revolution” which told of the increasing relevance of match data analysis in modern-day games. Analysis company Prozone provided the statistical data and Revell worked with CGI artist Matt Painter using data manipulation by Richard Crafts to illustrate the different aspects of the game, e.g. possession, tackles, passes, touches, goals.
