Cheaper iPhone 4 To Compete In Emerging Markets [Headlines]

Apple vies for a spot in the low-end market by launching a cheaper iPhone 4 at around the same time as the release of the iPhone 5 in late September.

Apple is expected to release a cheaper iPhone 4 within weeks, cutting profit margins to win lower-end customers from rivals such as Nokia in China and other emerging markets.

In addition to the launch of the smaller iPhone 4, Apple is targeting an end-September launch for the next-generation iPhone 5, one source told Reuters, confirming earlier reports on blogs and industry websites. Charles Arthur/The Guardian.
