The first of Jonathan Kaplan’s new chain of grilled cheese restaurants opened in San Francisco earlier this week. The Flip video founder has made the unusual leap from electronics to food, but there is a high-tech aspect to The Melt: diners can order via their mobile phones and receive a QR code to swipe in the restaurant, which adds their order to the board and speeds up the process.
