Land Rover To Re-imagine Their Icon
The brand plans to launch a series of new vehicle types including a new Defender in 2012.
British car brand Land Rover are planning to redesign one of the most iconic vehicles it has created in its seventy year history. The Defender model was introduced in 1983 as the Land Rover Ninety and the Land Rover One Ten (the numbers representing the wheelbase in inches) but the design look harks back to the Series III that was introduced in 1971. Speaking to PSFK, design director Gerry McGovern said that the brand plans to launch a series of new vehicle types and that the Range Rover Evoque launch was just the start of this process. He said that he wanted to re-imagine the Defender for the 21st century and that we will see the design early next year.
