A recent study has found out that Microsoft may have earned three times as much money on HTC phones running Android than it did on its own line of Windows Phones.

According to Asymco analyst – Horace Dediu, Microsoft was expected to generate $21 million in revenue on the 1.4 million units of Windows Phones shipped out in the second quarter of this year. In contrast, Microsoft had earned $60 million in revenue from HTC based on the $5 per unit it gets as a patent settlement.
